ONEIDA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Oneida Nation’s chairman is taking on a new role.
Chairman Tehassi Hill was elected to be Vice Chairman of the Indian Gaming Association Wednesday during its annual convention in San Diego, California.
The Indian Gaming Association was established in 1985 as an initiative to represent gaming tribes in the country and to advocate for tribes to operate and regulate their gaming activities pursuant to federal law and treaties. The IGA represents 186 tribes and associate members.
Hill says his platform is to advance Indian gaming succinctly with the advancement of technology and all the resources available to tribes.
It is an honor to continue the legacy of leadership amongst my Indian Gaming peers in the same way Oneida has done for 40 years. Gaming is the catalyst for funding our essential services to our people. My work will be of great value to all tribes in the country and to the Oneida Nation as we move forward in Wisconsin in securing online sport betting and taking advantage of changing technology to advance our gaming operations. I pride Oneida on being leaders in the gaming industry in operation and regulation of gaming and maintaining the integrity of operations.
Hill will retain his full-time role as Chairman of the Oneida Nation.
