(UW ATHLETICS) ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The Wisconsin softball team battled against inclement weather throughout Saturday, securing a 5-2 victory versus Tulsa after a delay to get off to their best start since the 2019 season.
Junior Alivia Bark, sophomore Kendra Lewis and junior Danielle Lucey each finished with multiple hits to lead the way on the offensive end for the Badgers (6-2), as right-hander Shelby Jacobson continued to excel in the circle to close it out.
The scoring for UW began in the first, as senior Emily Bojan reached base on a hit by pitch and immediately advanced to second with the help of a passed ball. Junior Hilary Blomberg, the team leader in RBIs early on in 2026 with nine, took advantage and drove her in with a base hit. One batter later, Lewis tallied her first hit of the day to plate Blomberg—extending her hitting streak to eight games (dating back to 2025) while putting the Badgers up 2-0.
Tulsa answered back in the second frame, stringing together a trio of singles to set up a bases-loaded walk to get on the board.
After going quiet in the next two frames, UW’s offense broke through with a two-out, two-RBI single turned in by Lucey—plating redshirt freshman Jaclyn Showalter and Bark to make it a 4-1 advantage.
The Golden Hurricane knocked out starter Berritt Herr in the fifth inning after an RBI single, but Jacobson was able to weather the storm and escape after giving up a hit. The senior tossed 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out one. Jacobson has thrown in 15.2 innings this season, limiting opponents to a combined two runs during that stretch.
In the final frame, Showalter belted a home run to left field, her second in as many days for the Badgers. Jacobson came on in the bottom half of the inning and worked around a walk, guiding UW to their third-straight victory in the Lone Star State.
