(WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County is seeking public input in a community-wide survey focused on improving road safety.
In partnership with 24 municipalities, the county was awarded a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation called “Safe Streets and Roads for All.”
The grant will help fund a safety action plan that aims to “reach zero preventable roadway deaths” in Brown County. This plan includes identifying low-cost, high impact strategies to improve safety on the county’s road system, such as:
- Clear zone maintenance
- Upgraded signing
- Enhanced and widened edge line markings
- Bicycle lane markings or separated accommodations
- Rumble strips
- Shoulder paving
- Marked and/or signalized crosswalks
- Pavement safety edge
- Roundabouts and/or traffic signals
- Lighting
In addition to a public involvement meeting held Thursday, an online survey is being conducted to gather input for the project. All responses are anonymous.
Officials ask that you focus on your experiences outside of the city of Green Bay and the Oneida Nation, as both of those entities are developing their own action plans.
The survey is open until 8 a.m. Aug. 12. Click here to fill it out.
