GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) โ Alejandro Cantu was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison for his role in a 2022 murder on the cityโs west side.
Cantu, 34, was previously convicted of felony murder-battery in connection with the shooting death of Randall Denny at Perkins and Western avenues on April 30, 2022. Police have said the murder appeared to be tied a drug deal, with prosecutors adding that a theft by Denny โ including money, drugs, and weapons โ was a motivating factor.
Cantu was also placed on extended supervision for ten years by Judge Thomas Walsh.
Before the sentence was issued, Cantu apologized.
โIโm here to take responsibility for my actions. With the time thatโs given to me today, I plan to work on myself, do the programs that are available to me, remain sober, and when the time does come, that I come home, be a better member of our community,โ Cantu said.
His brother, Gustavo Cantu, will be sentenced April 22 after being convicted by a jury of felony murder-armed robbery.
The third suspect, Jacob Ventura, has a status conference set for April 24. No trial date has been set.
