MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A person carrying a rifle near Menasha High School was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
Police say they were notified of the person carrying the rifle in the 800 block of Milwaukee Street around 2:30 p.m.
While police established a perimeter, the high school was placed on lockdown.
With the help of four other law enforcement agencies, officers found the suspect, arrested him and secured the gun.
There is no ongoing threat to the public, police say.
“This was a swift and coordinated response by our officers and partner agencies to ensure the safety of our community,” Police Chief Nick Thorn said in a news release. “We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we worked to resolve this incident safely.”
The suspect’s name was not released. Police promised more details as they become available.
