(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE – The No. 20 Marquette University men’s basketball team fell to the No. 6 St. John’s Red Storm, 84-86, Saturday at Fiserv Forum.
Senior guard Kam Jones led for the Golden Eagles, posting 32 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Marquette and St. John’s traded the lead five times over the first half, and the Golden Eagles held their largest lead halfway through the first. Powered by senior forward David Joplin’s 12 points, Marquette went into halftime down by one.
The back-and-forth continued through the second half. St. John’s took its largest lead in the second half, going up by six. Marquette overcame the deficit to force the game into overtime before falling in overtime.
For the Red Storm, RJ Luis Jr finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
