GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — With about seven weeks to go until the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, the NFL is refining details ahead of the three-day event.
“This city is really well prepared to host major events. It’s a fantastic community and you guys are ready for it and you get our stamp of approval for sure,” said Jon Barker, the NFL’s global head of major events.
The NFL has about 300 staff members in Green Bay for a final walkthrough this week.
“All of the big pieces, operationally, are in place and then from there we just start to refine and this is when we really start to get into the details and really try to make this thing special for Green Bay,” Barker said.
In the next couple of weeks, truckloads of equipment will be arriving in Green Bay, so the large build of the draft footprint can be constructed. The stage, tents and other structures will start to become visible in and around Lambeau Field and Titletown. Thousands of people, from both the NFL and locally, will be working on the construction project.
“We’ll start to build those tents and then you’ll start to see the décor go up,” Barker said. “You’ll see the color and the style and the look and the feel of the draft. I think that’s when it starts to get really exciting, but like any big event you’ll start to see the construction first and then we’ll come in and make it look pretty.”
The main structures are expected to be completed about a week and a half prior to the actual event because as Barker said, “We’ve got to be show ready in the beginning of the week because we have rehearsals on that stage, we’ve got to make sure all of the content and entertainment and programming is ready.”
While the NFL Draft will be a celebration of the NFL and all 32 of its teams, Barker believes those coming to the draft or watching on TV will have a chance to see what Green Bay, the region, and the state are all about.
“You will see Green Bay really well represented and whether that’s through the programming we’re going to do on the stage, the athletes that are going to be represented, even in the décor pieces.”
