Cryptocurrency scams can originate from various sources, including phone calls, emails, text messages, social media, fraudulent websites, or computer pop-up ads.
Scammers generally operate with a sense of urgency and secrecy when requesting personal or financial information, including cryptocurrency payments.
These types of scams often target older adults so police recommend people talk to their older relatives who might be susceptible.
