FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A recent report from the Education Recovery Scorecard revealed Fond du Lac to be one of the most improved school districts in Wisconsin.
The district experienced the highest reading growth of any Wisconsin school district over the past three years, and the highest math improvement among the 20 biggest school districts in the state.
Fond du Lac used their nearly-$20 million in pandemic relief fund to improve curriculums and expand after-school programs.
“Our approach was straight-forward and powerful,” said Jeffrey Fleig, the Fond du Lac school district superintendent retiring after the 2024-25 school year. “We began holding students and staff accountable, setting clear expectations, prioritizing safety and empowering teachers to lead.”
Fond du Lac jumped 170 spots in its rank among the 421 Wisconsin school districts, exceeding its pre-pandemic levels in some areas.
