(LAWRENCE ATHLETICS) APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University men’s hockey goaltender Nolan Mahaffey has been chosen as one of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association 3 Stars of the Week.
Mahaffey (Grove City, Pa.), a sophomore goaltender, earned the honor after picking up two wins over the weekend against the University of Dubuque. Mahaffey posted a .948 save percentage and 1.49 goals against average on the weekend.
In Lawrence’s 4-2 victory in the series opener, Mahaffey stopped 22 shots as the Vikings rallied from a 2-0 deficit. In the Vikings’ 2-1 overtime win the next night, Mahaffey stopped 33 shots as Lawrence completed the series sweep.
On the season, Mahaffey lowered his goals against average to 2.67 and improved his save percentage to .914.
This marks the third time in Mahaffey’s career that he has been selected as one of the 3 Stars of the Week. He was last chosen on Jan. 23, 2024.
Lawrence, which moved up to fifth place in the NCHA standings, completes the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home series against St. Norbert College.
