GREEN BAY, WI (WLUK) — Dozens of protestors marched around Hagemesiter Park in Downtown Green Bay on Saturday morning, yielding anti-ICE and pro-immigrant signs.
“[We’re] against ICE and all the deportations occurring to the peaceful, law-abiding immigrants that are in this country,” says march organizer Verenice Lopez.
Lopez says the continued ultimate goal for immigrants is to be given a path to citizenship.
“I just want the community to know that there are people out here that are supporting them and trying to fight for our rights and what we deserve as human beings.”
The protests, which have popped up around the country, come after the Trump administration’s flurry of executive orders and crackdown on illegal immigration.
President Donald Trump’s new policies now allow federal agents to arrest illegal immigrants from schools and churches, something that was barred under former President Joe Biden’s administration.
