WEST BEND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A former school resource police officer has been sentenced to prison for having an inappropriate relationship with a high school student, according to online court records.
Steven Rosales, 35, pleaded guilty Friday in Washington County court to three counts, including one of sexual misconduct by school staff or volunteer. Prosecutors say he exchanged explicit photos and more than 9,000 text messages with a Kewaskum High School student he met while working as the school’s resource officer.
Judge Ryan Hetzel sentenced Rosales to a year and a half in prison, followed by two years on extended supervision.
The prison sentence will be served after he finishes a two-year sentence in a Fond du Lac County bestiality case. While investigating the Kewaskum case, police reviewed the contents of Rosales’ phone, and found conversations “regarding Steven engaging in sexual intercourse and cunnilingus with his dog.” That information led to the bestiality charges in Fond du Lac County, where Rosales lived.
