(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) CINCINNATI, OHIO – Marquette University women’s basketball continued BIG EAST play on Wednesday night with a 67-38 win at Xavier at Cintas Center.
The Golden Eagles (14-6, 6-3 BIG EAST) were led by Lee Volker, who had 18 points on a career-high four 3-pointers with seven boards. Skylar Forbes added 17 points, three assists and two rebounds. Halle Vice had 13 points and six rebounds.
The Golden Eagles led wire-to-wire and led by as many as 31 in the fourth quarter, their largest lead over a BIG EAST opponent this season.
Xavier (6-15, 1-9 BIG EAST) was led by Loren Christie, who had 10 points.
NOTABLES:
- Marquette has won the last 17 meetings in the series, the longest win streak against a BIG EAST opponent.
- Marquette held Xavier to 14 first half points, the lowest opponent first half total this season.
- Xavier’s 38 points tied the fewest BIG EAST opponent total in program history. Marquette won 61-38 over St. John’s on Feb. 18, 2023 and 52-38 over Georgetown on Feb. 7, 2024.
- The Golden Eagles shot 50-percent-or-better from the field for the eighth time this season.
