(UW ATHLETICS) MADISON, Wis. – Head coach Kelly Sheffield of the Wisconsin volleyball program has announced the signing of three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Mimi Colyer after spending three seasons at Oregon. Colyer has arrived at Wisconsin for the start of the 2025 spring semester.
The Badgers add more firepower to the pins by adding veteran Mimi Colyer. Colyer comes to the Badgers after spending three seasons at Oregon.
“Mimi has been one of the top outside hitters and six-rotation players in the country the past three years,” said head coach Kelly Sheffield. “To be able to add her to our team has been a big-time pickup for us. She is a fearless attacker and server. Coaching against her, you see how big of a competitor she is and how confident she is on the court. Her experience is something that we really like, especially with so many young players on our roster.”
The 6-foot-3 outside hitter accounted for 4.73 points per set in 2024, averaged 3.97 kills per set, and put down double-digit kills in 28 of 32 matches, including five 20-kill performances. Colyer, also a six rotation player, had nine double-doubles (kills and digs). She chipped in with .78 blocks per set, and averaged 2.19 digs per set. Colyer became a three-time AVCA All-American after being named AVCA All-America Second Team. Her accolades this season also include AVCA Northwest Region Player of the Year, AVCA All-Northwest Region Team, and was a unanimous All-Big Ten First Team honoree.
Colyer wrapped her junior season ranked among Oregon’s career top 10 in kills (1,461, 7th) and service aces (123, 8th). In her previous seasons, Colyer has racked up two AVCA All-America honors, including AVCA National Freshman of the Year in 2022; two All-Pac-12 Team accolades, and two AVCA All-Region honors as well.
Colyer has arrived and will be with the Badgers this spring.
