(UW ATHLETICS) MADISON – Sarah Franklin, now a Wisconsin volleyball alumna, has been named a finalist for the Class of 2025 Honda Sport Award for Volleyball, announced by The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).
Outside hitter Sarah Franklin wrapped up yet another successful season by being named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America First Team, Big Ten and AVCA Northeast Player of the Year, and a 2024 AVCA National Player of the Year finalist. She averaged 4.46 kills per set, 2.28 digs per set, and 4.96 points per set. Out of 33 matches this season, the Lake Worth, Fla., native recorded double-figure kills in all but two matches, including nine matches with 20-plus kills, and recorded eight double-doubles (kills and digs).
Franklin is now a two-time Honda Award finalist (2023), and will look to become the second Badger in program history to win the award. In 2021-22, Badger volleyball great, Dana Rettke, became the first in program history to win the award.
Joining the list of finalists with Franklin are Olivia Babcock (Pittsburgh), Brooklyn DeLeye (Kentucky), and Lexi Rodriguez (Nebraska). The four finalists were also finalists for AVCA National Player of the Year.
The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 49 years, recognizing the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports and symbolizing “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” The recipient of the sport award will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the 2025 Honda Cup, which will be presented during the live broadcast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards Presented by Honda on CBS Sports Network in June.
