(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) Green Bay women’s basketball is tipping off 2025 with a showdown against Northern Kentucky on Thursday evening at the Kress Center.
Northern Kentucky is off to a slow start under first-year head coach Jeff Hans. NKU is still seeking its first conference win of the season, falling in each of the program’s first three Horizon League games this season to Cleveland State, Youngstown State, nad Oakland, respectively. The Norse has posted two of its three wins on the road. Macey Blevins leads NKU in minutes (28.7 MPG) and points per game (12.9 PPG), but it’s Mya Meredith that has been getting the job done on both ends of the hardwood. The senior guard averages a team-leading 5.2 rebounds per game and 1.8 steals per contest. Blevins, Halle Idowu, and Kamora Morgan all average double figures in points, and Idowu has been good in the paint defensively, tallying a team-leading seven blocks.
Green Bay has dominated NKU since Northern Kentucky joined the Horizon League in 2015, posting a 17-3 record against NKU. GB won the first five meetings and has gotten the W in the last five, with Green Bay last losing to the Norse in November 2021. The Phoenix has stymied NKU’s offense recently, holding NKU to 60 points or fewer in seven of the last eight meetings, including the last five straight. When NKU visits the Kress Center, the Green and White is 8-1, winning the first six meetings. GB has held the Norse to 61 points or less in eight of the nine meetings at home.
