MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A former employee at the Waupun Correctional Institution was sentenced on December 12 to nine months of house arrest for smuggling contraband into the prison in exchange for bribe payments.
William Homan, 47, of Fox Lake, served as a facilities repair worker at WCI.
“During this time, he shall be restricted to his residence at all times except for employment, education, religious services, medical, substance abuse and mental health treatment, or other activities as approved by the officer (home detention),” a court document states.
He was also placed on probation for three years by federal Judge Lynn Adelman during the hearing in Milwaukee, court records show.
According to a news release, from July 2022 to Sept. 2023, Homan worked with inmates, former inmates and their associates to smuggle contraband into the maximum-security prison. In return, Homan received approximately 125 bribe payments totaling more than $53,500.
