CALUMET COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – New Wisconsin State Park admission stickers are on sale.
They feature new logos and new procedures, as well.
High Cliff State Park Ranger Nathan Jacques says he’s been busy.
“They’re a big hit so far. Everyone likes to come and buy them for Christmas gifts. And they make a wonderful present,” said Nathan Jacques, ranger at High Cliff State Park.
The daily vehicle entrance fee to High Cliff State Park is $8. An annual resident vehicle sticker costs $28.
“As of the longest time, we’ve always had a calendar year park sticker, which means they’re good from Jan. 1, to Dec. 31. With these new stickers they’re rolling out, it’s a rolling year. So if you purchase them in January 2025, they’re going to be good until the very end of January 2026,” said Jacques.
High Cliff is the only state park on Lake Winnebago. Deb Lee has her sticker and says she visits the 1,200-acre park as often as she can.
“High Cliff has beautiful views, and just so many places you can get away, and just enjoy the beauty, and see the lake, the trees. The wildflowers in the spring are amazing. It’s great place,” said Lee, from Sherwood.
The Niagara Escarpment cuts through the park, and the view from the observation tower is worth the climb to the top.
“When you buy that park sticker, it’s good at every single state park and state forest in Wisconsin for that whole year, and really, if you visit just a a few times, it pays to get the annual as opposed to the daily rates,” said Jacques.
And as sales continue to grow, Jacques says the new system brings new growing pains, too.
“We’re having to punch holes in every sticker now, so it adds a little bit of time to our process with selling the sticker. It also is going to be, I think, slightly more challenging perhaps, in trying to look for that hole in the sticker, and try to verify that month that they actually bought it,” he said.
Officials say over the course of the year, more than 20 million people visit the Wisconsin State Park System.
