(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) -MEQUON – St. Norbert College saw its 2024 season come to a close with a 3-2 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin a semifinal-round match of the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference Tournament at Buuck Fieldhouse.
The Green Knights (19-14) fell to the Falcons (18-10) by scores of 18-25, 25-13, 25-16, 22-25, 15-12.
Concordia posted 14 team blocks in the match, with St. Norbert hitting .078 in the match with 48 kills against 34 errors in 179 attempts.
The Green Knights held a 16-13 lead in Set 1 before a 4-0 run boosted the edge to 20-13. The Falcons would get no closer than four points the rest of the set as St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead. The next two sets were all Concordia, with the Falcons posting eight blocks in Set 2 and four blocks in Set 3. St. Norbert jumped out to a 4-0 lead in Set 4 and never trailed en route to tying the match 2-2. Concordia would get to within 19-16 and 24-22, but a Mari Szews kill finished the set.
In the decisive fifth set, Concordia took a 4-0 lead. The Green Knights got to within 9-8 and 11-10, but a 3-0 run by Concordia led to a 14-10 lead and an eventual match win.
Alyssa Mills led the Green Knights with 12 kills, while Alli Clark added nine kills. Heidi Colburn had 33 assists and two service aces.
Colburn and Kara Sowinski had 15 digs apiece, while Mills had 12. Clark and Sophia Prins had two blocks apiece.
Concordia hit .130, with 46 kills and 25 errors in 161 attempts. Skylar Kumprey had 12 kills to lead the Falcons.
