FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The suspect in an attempted homicide pleaded not guilty Friday.
Miguel West, 39, is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for the Sept. 28 incident.
No trial date was set. A speedy trial demand was filed, court records show, which means the trial is supposed to start within 90 days.
According to the criminal complaint, police responded to reports of a shooting near East 1st Street and Adams Street. The victim identified West as the shooter.
“He said he saw an adult male known to him as defendant, Miguel West, run out from behind the Probation and Parole office towards him and yell, “mother****** what!” Victim said that the defendant pulled out a gun and shot at him multiple times. Victim said he fell off his bike when he got shot and that the defendant continued shooting before running away on 1st St into a nearby apartment building. Victim estimated that the defendant was about a half block away from him when he started shooting,” the complaint states.
Ten shots were fired. No motive is cited in the complaint. The complaint does not include any comments from West.
