(WIAC) MADISON, Wis.–University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Gracie Ha has been selected the 2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Tennis Kwik Trip Player of the Year, while teammate Abby Weaver secured Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year honors. In addition, UW-La Crosse’s Bill Hehli was tabbed the Kwik Trip Coach of the Year.
Ha is the seventh Warhawk to receive the Player of the Year honor, joining Kalla Schaefer (2011), Sydney Divelbiss (2012), Megan Humphreys (2014, 2015, 2016), Gabi Kitchell (2018), Autumn Bruno (2022) and Cassie Lee (2023). Ha won the No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles titles at the WIAC Championship. She compiled an 11-6 record in singles action and a 9-4 mark in doubles competition during the fall season.
Weaver becomes the third individual in program history to claim Newcomer of the Year recognition, joining Kasey Schlicht (2020) and Autumn Bruno (2021). She posted first-place finishes No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles at the WIAC Championship. Weaver had an 8-3 singles mark and 12-4 doubles record this fall. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women’s tennis this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in women’s tennis at their previous institution.
Hehli claimed the distinction for the sixth time in his career (2000, 2005, 2012, 2017, 2020) after directing the Eagles to a second-place finish at the WIAC Championship. UW-La Crosse posted a 9-1 dual match record this fall, including a 5-1 mark against conference foes.
