FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Approximately five acres of field was burned after a corn bailer caught fire in Fond du Lac County.
The land owner called 911 around 1:20 p.m., saying the fire was spreading into his 20-acre field on Highway 44.
Several agencies responded to the scene. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the corn bailer fire was quickly extinguished, but the flames spread to nearby corn bales and the recently-cut cornstalk field.
Around five acres of field burned, and the bailer was a total loss of approximately $9,000. No injuries were reported.
