Lawrence University opens its new Business & Entrepreneurship Center in Fox Commons, Oct. 23, 2024. PC: Fox 11 Online
APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Another piece of the new Fox Commons development in downtown Appleton is coming to life.
Lawrence University celebrated Wednesday the grand opening of its Business & Entrepreneurship Center. The space is located on the second floor of Fox Commons, which is undergoing a substantial remodel on the site of the old City Center Plaza.
University officials say the Business & Entrepreneurship Center is designed to fortify academic excellence, career exploration and mentorship opportunities in the fields of business and entrepreneurship.
The center features a large multipurpose room with a stage for lectures, performances and pitch competitions; a finance lab equipped with data analysis and finance terminals; and a group study/meeting space to be utilized by students, faculty members and community collaborators.
“The space we are opening today allows us to strengthen and grow our partnerships in the community as we bolster the academic experience for our students and better prepare them for successful careers after graduation,” said Lawrence University President Laurie Carter.
What happens outside the classroom can be as instrumental in a student’s experience as what happens in the classroom. What you see today is a wonderful example of how Lawrence is being intentional in strengthening that student experience and extending the reach of the classroom.
When it’s finished, the three-story Fox Commons will be a mix of commercial, residential and retail space.
In addition to the Business & Entrepreneurship Center, Lawrence University’s investment in Fox Commons includes student apartments, which opened last month, and a Pre-Health Commons. Lawrence is also developing partnerships with gener8tor, a business startup accelerator, and other businesses and health care organizations that will be part of Fox Commons.
