(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s soccer team (4-9-3, 1-4-1 BIG EAST) concluded its two-game homestand Thursday night with a 3-0 setback against Villanova (5-5-4, 2-1-3) at Valley Fields.
Marquette trailed 1-0 at the intermission after the Wildcats found the back of the net at the 28:32 mark. Villanova was able to clean up a failed corner kick clearance and score from 12 yards out.
The Wildcats moved ahead 2-0 in the opening moments of the second half after end-to-end action following a Marquette corner kick resulted in a one-on-one opportunity from the top of the box.
Netminder Chloe Olson, who was making her second-straight start, finished the night with four saves. Forward Josie Bieda led the way with three shots, but MU was outshot 13-7 as a team.
