MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) –After weeks of competition and more than 150,000 votes cast, a champion has been crowned in this year’s “Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin” contest.
Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and Johnson Financial Group announced Thursday the winning product is Jolly Good Soda, manufactured by Krier Foods in Random Lake.
Jolly Good Soda is a craft soda brand beloved for its unique flavors and vibrant-colored cans. A variety of flavors are available, from classic Root Beer to more bold offerings, such as Sour Pow’r and Blue Raspberry.
“It’s an honor to be selected as the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin. Jolly Good soda is an iconic Wisconsin brand that has and continues to create memories for families across the state,” said Krier Foods’ Sr. Vice President of Business Development Zach Malin in a news release.
The employees who help produce Jolly Good everyday are extremely proud of the company’s family heritage, Wisconsin ties, and being able to put a smile on our friends, families, and neighbors. Thank you to all of the other iconic Wisconsin brands for participating, and thank you to everybody who voted for Jolly Good!
More than 130 products from each corner of the state were nominated in the this year’s contest. A popular vote round was followed by a bracket-style tournament known as “Manufacturing Madness” which narrowed down the products from 16 to eight, then to the final four.
The annual contest is in its ninth year. It culminates each October, in celebration of Manufacturing Month, and is intended to help draw attention to Wisconsin’s diverse manufacturing industry and its rewarding careers. More than 1.5 million votes have been cast since the contest’s inception.
“Wisconsin manufacturers contribute more than just their products to the economy. Our manufacturers create jobs, invest in their communities, and support their workforce,” said WMC President & CEO Kurt R. Bauer in a news release.
“The Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest showcases the depth and strength of manufacturing, including the diversity of products made right here in our backyard that are used all over the world. Congratulations to all the manufacturers who participated and the entire team at Jolly Good,” he added.
Last year’s champion in the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest was the Bevi Bottleless Water Dispenser, manufactured by Plexus Corporation in the Fox Valley.
