GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) โ Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz stopped in Green Bay Monday as part of his campaign swing across Wisconsin.
The Minnesota governorโs first trip to Northeast Wisconsin came after an appearance in Eau Claire earlier Monday.
Walz took part in a โpolitical eventโ in Green Bay prior to hosting a campaign rally at the KI Convention Center. He was introduced by fellow governors Tony Evers of Wisconsin and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, kicking off a campaign bus tour.
โ[Vice President Kamala Harris] spent the last four years defending our democracy, fighting for the freedoms we hold dear, and working tirelessly to do the right thing,โ said Evers. โShe has been a champion for lowering costs, including capping insulin at $35 a month.โ
Walz spoke on Harrisโ economic policy platforms.
โKamala Harris has laid out a plan to build an opportunity economy,โ said Walz. โOne that lowers everyday costs, lifts everyone up and leaves nobody behind. Weโre talking about a child tax credit to help new parents, thatโs $6,000 in the first year of that childโs life.โ
He also had lots to say about Donald Trump.
โHe suggested that he is going to send the military against โthe enemy from within,'โ said Walz. โIn other words, Americans who donโt support him. You know who heโs talking about? Heโs talking about you.โ
Walz also spoke about Harrisโ plans to restore and protect reproductive freedoms.
โThe republican party has added much to the benefit of this county, but thatโs not who Donald Trump and the MAGA folks are,โ said Walz. โWhen Vice President Harris and I talk about freedom, we mean that you should be free to make the decisions about your healthcare and your family, not politicians.โ
This marks Walzโs fifth visit to Wisconsin since he was named Democratic nominee Kamala Harrisโ running mate.
The election between Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump is three weeks from Tuesday. The latest Marquette University Law School poll released earlier this month showed Harris with a four-percentage-point lead over Trump in Wisconsin, just inside the pollโs margin of error.
