FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two Milwaukee men have been charged after a traffic stop and subsequent drug bust in Fond du Lac County.
Around 6:10 p.m. on September 15, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over a vehicle traveling on I-41with an illegible temporary registration plate and a missing passenger side mirror.
K9 Rip was deployed during the traffic stop and he alerted the deputy to the presence of drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 21 grams of individually packaged black tar heroin concealed in a center console compartment.
“This is not a form of heroin that deputies typically encounter, as it is the result of more crude processing methods that leave behind impurities in the end product,” a news release states.
Both the driver and passenger of the vehicle were taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail, where staff located additional drugs on both subjects.
The 47-year-old Milwaukee man who was driving the vehicle was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, as well as possession of cocaine due to the approximately two grams of cocaine discovered on his person at the jail. Officials say he has a criminal history that includes the possession, manufacturing and/or delivery of heroin and cocaine. He remains in custody on a $10,000 cash bond. Due to previous convictions, his charges also carry a repeater modification.
The vehicle’s passenger, a 34-year-old Milwaukee man, was also charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin. He is also facing a charge of possession of psilocybin mushrooms due to the approximately two grams of mushrooms found on his person at the jail. Authorities say the man is currently on parole and has an extensive criminal history involving drugs and firearms. A $25,000 cash bond was set and he remains in custody. His charges also carry a repeater modification as a result of previous convictions.
“This traffic stop is another example of a simple registration and equipment violation stop leading to the removal of dangerous drugs and criminals from our streets,” the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said in the release.
