GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two weeks out from the first regular season game for the Packers football season, demand for tickets is rising.
“There’s a lot of optimism with this team,” says Travis Loftus with Ticket King in Green Bay.
“I think we’re going to have a really good team this year, you can just feel the vibe at camp it’s just a whole new thing, everyone’s just excited, the players the fans, everybody,” says Nancy Beaulieu, a devout Packers fan.
That excitement around the upcoming season is translating to ticket sales, too.
According to StubHub, the Packers are the #2 trending team of the season, with ticket sales up three times compared to the start of last season.
Local ticket retailers can vouch for that.
“I was going to say it’s double, at least double, compared to what it was last year at this time,” Loftus with Ticket King says. “I think last year there was so much uncertainty with how Jordan Love was going to be as a quarterback and the team, and the way they finished last season, it has kind of carried over to the offseason and into the beginning of this year. Sales have definitely, they’ve gone back to what they used to be when they were good.”
StubHub also says this year’s game against the Vikings is the best-selling home game.
Travis Loftus says that’s true, too
“Yeah, the Viking game is the top one right now I would say tickets are starting right around $375 to get in the door, which is pretty considerably high for what the face value is,” Loftus says.
“I think both of us would like to go to the Minnesota-Green Bay game ’cause we miss Aaron Jones, we love to see him and it’s just always a good rivalry,” says Packers fan Carol Fuerst.
“It’s always a good game, the Vikings-Packers is always good, and the other one I would like is Kansas City because I like Andy Reid,” adds Beaulieu.
Loftus says other top-selling home games include the season opener against the Colts and the mid-October matchup against the Texans, likely in part due to the game’s “winter warning” white-out theme.
And right now, the game with the least amount of interest?
“That would be the Monday night game against the New Orleans Saints due to the whole fact that it’s a December game, a Monday at night, so it’s tougher for fans out of town to come,” Loftus says.
That game is also two days before the Christmas holiday.
But it wouldn’t deter everyone.
“You just got to know to dress warm,” Fuerst adds.
Loftus says tickets for the Packers final preseason game against the Ravens on Saturday are still available and for about half the price of a regular season ticket. Information can be found on their website by clicking here.
