MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) โ Katrina Baur, the mother of missing boy Elijah Vue, asked a court Wednesday to reduce her bail by one-third.
Vue, 3, was reported missing Feb. 20 by his caregiver, Jesse Vang. Prosecutors say Baur sent her son to live with Vang โ her boyfriend โ at his Two Rivers apartment for โdisciplinary reasons.โ Despite extensive searches, the boy has not been found. Baur and Vang face child neglect charges related to the condition of the home and treatment of the boy.
Baur has been unable to post the $15,000 cash bail set in February. Her attorney, Ann Larson, filed a motion Wednesday asking for that to be reduced.
โKatrina Baur, by her attorney, Ann M. Larson, will move the Court for an order modifying bond in the above-referenced case from $15,000 cash bail to a personal recognizance bond or in the alternative a cash bond not to exceed $5,000 cash. Ms. Baur is unable to post the cash bail as set and has been confined in the Manitowoc County Jail since February 21, 2024. She agrees to abide by any other conditions as set forth by the Court and to attend all future court hearings. Additionally, Ms. Baur moves the Court to remove the condition that she is not allowed to have contact with children under the age of eighteen,โ the motion states.
Prosecutors have not responded to motion.
A plea deal for Baur has been discussed in court, but the hearing to finalize it has been postponed twice. She is currently set to return to court Monday morning.
Vang returns to court Sept. 27 for a status conference; no trial date has been set.
No one has been charged in connection with the boyโs disappearance.
