FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 19-year-old Texas man was killed and two others were injured in a crash Thursday in Fond du Lac County.
Around 7:40 a.m., officials received numerous 911 calls reporting a two-vehicle crash on County Highway D near Hawes Court in the township of Fond du Lac.
Officials say a vehicle traveling southbound on County Highway D “failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected, and entered the northbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a northbound vehicle.”
Three individuals were in the southbound vehicle. The driver — a 19-year-old man from Pharr, Texas — was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two individuals in the southbound vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.
A 48-year-old Oakfield woman was driving the northbound vehicle. She was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.
Witnesses told police the southbound vehicle was speeding prior to the crash. Officials say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
County Highway D was closed for approximately four hours. Names of the individuals have not been released, as an investigation is ongoing.
