GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The officer involved in a shooting that killed a man wielding a knife after a car accident in Grand Chute on April 12 will face no criminal charges.
State investigators say Wiliam Jae Kil Nelson was armed with a knife after a car crash on W. Prospect Avenue, and attempted to taser him but were unsuccessful.
Sgt. Ellis Brookes fired at Nelson, 22, who died two weeks later.
In a release Saturday night, the Wisconsin Department of Justice ruled that no charges will be filed for Sgt. Brookes.

Recently, Outagamie County District Attorney Melinda Tempelis issued her decision regarding the death of William Jae Kil Nelson, which occurred on April 12, 2024, in the Town of Grand Chute, Wis. The district attorney determined there will be no criminal charges for involved law enforcement.
