MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Coleman man faces a vehicular homicide charge for a crash which killed an 8-month-old girl.
Michael Galbraith, 46, is charged with homicide by use of a motor vehicle while using a controlled substance for the Oct. 6 crash which killed Alana Price.
He was released on a signature bond. He returns to court June 26 for a preliminary hearing and arraignment, court records show.
Galbraith allegedly pulled out from a stop sign on Kamm Road at U.S. 41, striking another vehicle. The child died a few days after the crash.
He said he stopped for the stop sign, but didn’t see the vehicle coming.
A blood draw was performed, and the tests showed Galbraith tested positive for the chemicals in marijuana.
In Wisconsin, motorists can have alcohol in their system up to a certain point and still operate legally. However, no such allowable limits exist for other illegal drugs, and any detectable amounts can result in charges.
