GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The process has started for Taylor Schabusiness to appeal her conviction and life sentence for the murder and dismemberment of Shad Thyrion, but it will likely be months before the grounds of any appeal are known.
Schabusiness was sentenced to life in prison with no chance at parole, plus another 10.5 years after that, for the Feb. 22, 2022, murder of Thyrion at a west side Green Bay home. The jury rejected her insanity defense.
According to court records, attorney Greg Petit was assigned to the case earlier this month.
Transcripts of the hearings will be provided to them to review. Court records do not list any deadlines for them to file appellate briefs which would state the reasons or arguments for an appeal, but that process usually takes several months.
After that, prosecutors and Schabusiness’ attorneys would each submit legal briefs, and then the court would make a decision.
