APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The city of Appleton will carry on an Independence Day tradition.
The city says it will work in partnership with Festival Foods, to put on the July 3rd family-friendly fireworks event at Memorial Park.
The city takes over after the Appleton Area Jaycees, the nonprofit organization that organized the event for decades, announced it would not longer be the host.
The city says this year’s event will be a simplified program, focusing solely on the fireworks display. Unlike years past, this will be an alcohol-free event and no food or drinks will be available for sale. There also will be no music at the venue.
“While the format may be slightly different this year, we’re dedicated to providing a fantastic experience for our community,” said Dean Gazza, Park and Rec Director for the City of Appleton. “We’re incredibly grateful to Festival Foods for their sponsorship, and we look forward to celebrating Independence Day together!”
The fireworks are scheduled to commence at 9:45 p.m., weather permitting.
