DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — All lockdowns on schools in De Pere have been lifted after the police department received a threatening phone call.
Around 10:20 a.m. Friday, the De Pere Police Department notified the schools of a phone call it received. The phone call threatened the safety of local students, schools, and police department. While the threats were directed toward De Pere, no specific school building was identified.
Out of an abundance of caution, while police investigated the situation, students and staff of the Unified School District of De Pere, School District of West De Pere, and GRACE Schools were asked to remain in the school buildings.
Police say through their investigation, they were able to establish certain details of the call were not accurate. After noon, the lockdowns were lifted.
The school district says all scheduled activities will proceed as planned.
Police will have additional officers near the schools for release Friday, again out of an abundance of caution.
