TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Police provided an update Friday on efforts to find missing 3-year-old boy Elijah Vue.
The boy was reported missing on Feb. 20. Both his mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, were arrested soon after. They remain jailed on child neglect charges. Prosecutors say Baur sent her son to stay with Vang at his Two Rivers apartment to learn discipline.
According to the Two Rivers Police Department’s latest update, utility crews have been helping investigators search manholes throughout Manitowoc County. The FBI has finished its aerial searches, and volunteer drone operators have conducted more searches.
“We encourage participation in coordinated and legally permissible search efforts for Elijah,” Capt. Andrew Raatz wrote. “We have also remained in contact with Elijah’s family with assistance from DCI (the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation) regarding the efforts of our searches.”
Police also said they continue to analyze video and other data and follow up on leads.
Baur appeared in court Tuesday, where her request to have her bond converted to a signature bond was denied. Attorneys in the case have scheduled a status conference for May 28.
Vang’s case is set for a status conference June 28.
