ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The National Railroad Museum is breaking ground on a $15 million expansion.
The expansion will include an additional 25,000 square feet of indoor space, including an upper mezzanine.
The lower level will house additional classrooms, a kitchen, and storage space. The addition would also expand the exhibit space and tie the museum into the riverfront, with a wall of windows leading to an outdoor patio.
The museum has received $7 million in federal COVID-19 relief money to cover part of the expansion’s cost.
As of Thursday, the museum had raised $13.19 million toward the expansion.
