GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Fans heading to University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s basketball games will now use Kevin Borseth Way to get to the Kress Events Center.
The new street name was unveiled Tuesday morning.
Borseth, the coach who retired earlier this month after 21 years and 509 wins at UWGB, was the guest of honor at the unveiling. It took a little bit of help from his friends — namely one player who got on another player’s shoulders — to pull off the covering after the rope connected to it tore off.
“When you go back and you look at all the people’s names that are on the streets and the buildings here on campus — and I know a lot of them — Ed Weidner, the Weidner Center, (Aldo) Santaga Field and Mark King Field and the Dick Bennett Gym and Carol’s Court. I mean, I go back, and now my name’s on one of those things. I realize the significant impact that they’ve had on the university, and to think that someone’s held me in that esteem is really pretty cool,” Borseth said.
Borseth coached college basketball for 37 seasons overall, with stops at Michigan Tech and Michigan in addition to UWGB.
