ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Plans to build a large restaurant and entertainment venue in Ashwaubenon were approved Tuesday, but a developer request to use TIF assistance to help fund the project was denied.
Documents say the site, located at 789 Armed Forces Drive near the Resch Center, will be home to a “new Anduzzi’s Restaurant.” Mac Cisar, Anduzzi’s COO, called it “a state-of-the-art facility our entire community can be proud of.”
According to Ashwaubenon’s Village Attorney Patrick Leigl, the developers requested Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) assistance, but were rejected.
“Ultimately, the Village Board elected not to contribute to the development through TIF assistance,” said Leigl.
TIF is a method of public finance often used by municipalities to subsidize redevelopment, infrastructure and other community growth projects. It promotes local tax base expansion by using property tax revenues to fund site improvements and attract new development.
Plans say the new Anduzzi’s building will have a bar/restaurant on both its first and second levels, and the third floor will be a rentable event space. The project also includes an outdoor performance stage, paved outdoor seating areas and patios and a synthetic turf outdoor activity area.
Nearby businesses, including Stadium View and The Bar, opposed the project, citing concerns over a lack of parking. The motion to approve the plan passed, but with three votes against.
