FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A ringleader of a drug distribution ring was convicted Monday.
Melvin Kemp, 31, pleaded guilty to delivery of amphetamine and narcotics. Sentencing is scheduled for May 30, court records show.
The investigation, which also included the state of Michigan, discovered the delivery and distribution of more than 100 pounds of meth with the street value of $1 million in 2022, as well as the early stages of a fentanyl distribution operation.
Authorities in Fond du Lac County seized 3.25 pounds of meth and 280 grams of fentanyl.
District Attorney Eric Toney previously said that amount of fentanyl would be enough to kill 104,000 people — more than the number of people who live in Fond du Lac County.
Ten people were charged during the investigation.
