MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A motor malfunction at Manitowoc Lincoln High School led to an evacuation Wednesday.
School officials say around 12:40 p.m., a ventilation motor malfunctioned in the Tech Ed department, producing “a large amount” of smoke. There were no flames, but fire alarms were triggered.
Administrators initiated the EVACUATE Safety Response Protocol and guided students to a safe location. Students were ultimately sent home for the remainder of the day.
The Manitowoc Fire Department confirmed the source of the smoke was a malfunctioning ventilation motor and no flames were present. Fire officials have deemed the entire Lincoln High School building safe for learning on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
Because of PreACT testing, “very few students” were in the building at the time of the event, officials say. No one was injured.
