GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oct. 7 trial date was set Tuesday for a man accused of stabbing his father.
Abdullahi Ali, 23, allegedly stabbed his father Feb. 22, 2023, at the Islamic Society of Wisconsin on Velp Avenue. Others subdued Ali until police arrived. Ali faces several charges, including attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
A week-long trial is scheduled, court records show.
The case was on hold at one point because Ali was deemed not competent to stand trial. After mental health treatment, however, Ali is now competent, court records show
The complaint states that the victim told police that he and his son, Ali, were at the doctor to treat Ali’s mental illness earlier in the day.
“The two went to the mosque to pray and while he was in the prayer room, Abdullahi attacked him from behind with a knife,” the complaint states.
