GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Community members are getting their first look at renderings for a new park on Green Bay’s east side.
During a meeting of the city’s Parks Committee Wednesday, a staff presentation laid out concept plans for the JBS Boulevard and Destination Park.
It’s a project which began in 2021, when JBS Foods donated nearly 26 acres of land and $500,000 to the city through the company’s Hometown Strong initiative.
The parcel of undeveloped space is located across from the JBS facility on Lime Kiln Road, between Wal-Mart and the Kroc Center. It will also be developed to address housing issues in the area.
According to the renderings, the Grand Boulevard will include seating, art sculptures, food trucks areas, a concrete bike path, a fire pit, a water feature, an area for bag toss and other games and plenty of greenery.
The multi-colored synthetic turf playground will offer slides, a mesh climbing structure, a play set, and climbing logs.
“They’ve been working hard on this. It’s going to take time yet, a lot of planning,” said Alderperson William Morgan, who represents District 3 where the development is located. “But I support it for my district as being a great improvement for us and the city of Green Bay.”
