APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Friday’s below freezing temperatures and snow flurries set the stage for ‘Avenue of Ice’ in downtown Appleton.
The weekend-long event features a variety of ice sculptures all created by Krystal Kleer Ice Sculptures, LLC.
There are 30 sculptures in total and are on display downtown, each sponsored by an Appleton business or organization.
This year’s theme is “Summer on Ice.” Among the sculptures you’ll find a mermaid, dolphin, sailboat , tractor and sunflower. Each sculpture is a great photo opportunity for visitors.
Abby Novak, marketing director for Downtown Appleton says “Every year we’ve had you know over 30 sculptures that are spread out throughout the Avenue and people love just walking around, checking them out, popping in and out of businesses and just really making a day of it.”
For those that do take photos, you can share them on the Appleton Downtown Facebook page for a chance to win prizes.
Avenue Of Ice runs through Sunday.
