SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Five people are without a home following a fire Wednesday morning.
Suamico Fire Chief Joe Bertler says just before 7 a.m., a man reported his house was on fire in the 2000 block of Pinecrest Road. Everyone was able to get out before firefighters arrived. Crews found a fire in the basement of the two-story farmhouse.
It took about half an hour to get the fire under control.
The five members of the family complained of minor smoke inhalation. First responders treated them at the scene. No firefighters were injured.
The fire department estimates the fire caused $150,000 in damage to the house. The Red Cross is helping the family.
The Brown County Fire Investigation Task Force continues to investigate. Initial results indicate the fire started in the basement.
