APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — City of Appleton employees want to show you how they run the city.
Applications are now open for Appleton’s citizens academy.
Throughout the ten week program, participants will take part in various tours, hands-on activities, and presentations from various city departments to give them a better understanding of how the city works behind the scenes.
“This program is very important and eye-opening for the people, and they can ask lots of questions,” said Anindita Anaam, Communications Manager for the City of Appleton. “All of the past testimonials have been very, very encouraging.”
Participants will learn from:
- Appleton Public Library
- Community and Economic Development (CED)
- Department of Health
- Department of Public Works (Engineering Division)
- Department of Legal and Administrative Services
- Common Council
- Office of the Mayor
- Department of Finance
- Department of Human Resources
- Department of Information Technology
- Department of Utilities: Water Treatment Plant
- Valley Transit
- Department of Public Works (Operations)
- Department of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Management
- Appleton Police Department
- Appleton Fire Department
The program is free for all Appleton residents and also for those who work in Appleton.
The Citizens Academy begins on March 7, with graduation from the program being held on May 16.
