TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — For the first time in nearly two decades, Woodland Dunes Nature Center & Preserve in Two Rivers will have a new leader at its helm.
On Wednesday, the 1500-acre nature preserve and environmental education center revealed Sue Crowley has been selected as its next executive director.
Crowley — the preserve’s Land Management Coordinator — will succeed Jim Knickelbine, who announced last month he is retiring after serving as Woodland Dunes’ executive director for 19 years.
I am honored to be chosen for the executive director’s position. I am excited about working together with staff, our board, and all of our great partners to continue to uphold our mission: providing generational education about our natural world while protecting and enhancing the water and land we are entrusted to care for.
Prior to her current position with Woodland Dunes, Crowley held a variety of offices within the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and has vast experience in state and private land forestry practices, tax law plans, budget management and supervising staff.
She received both a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry and Master’s Degree in Soil Science from UW-Madison.
Knickelbine said he is confident Crowley will do big things as executive director.
I have known Sue for many years and I am very pleased that she will be taking over the reins. She is a dedicated professional who understands land management, the importance of environmental education, and believes in the mission of the organization. Her knowledge and experience will help Woodland Dunes answer to conservation concerns and make great strides into the future.
Crowley will officially begin her duties as Woodland Dunes’ executive director effective Jan. 1, 2024.
