GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Local businesses and members of the community will be joined by current and former Green Bay Packers players Friday for the 14th annual Touchdowns for Hope gala.
Running back AJ Dillon and his wife, Gabrielle, are returning for their second year as hosts of the signature fundraising event, which benefits House of Hope Green Bay.
For more than 20 years, House of Hope has provided safe shelter, support and resources to thousands of pregnant and parenting young women and their children in Northeast Wisconsin who are experiencing homelessness.
The shelter’s programming and services focus on areas including employment, positive parenting skills, financial literacy and debt management, nutrition and meal preparation, formal education, healthy living skills and holistic wellness.
Each year, House of Hope’s gala is attended by past and present Packers players and hosted by a player and their spouse.
Organizers attribute that connection to the green-and-gold as one of the reasons why the fundraiser has grown so much over the years.
“This event was started by Greg Jennings’ wife to bring awareness to childhood homelessness and the way families are affected by homelessness. Ever since then, it’s always been supported by a Packers player and his wife,” explained Beth Hudak, House of Hope’s director of community engagement.
“We are just so incredibly lucky that we haven’t had to go out and ask people to support us. The mission of House of Hope is important to me, so please make it important to you,” Hudak added.
Money donated to House of Hope will go towards upgrades and expansions.
Friday’s gala will take place at the Oneida Country Club at 7 p.m. and feature exclusive auction items, entertainment and a dance party to close out the evening.
