WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Bond was set at $50,000 cash Monday for the suspect in a hit-and-run crash which killed a pedestrian Saturday.
Formal charges against Evan Barnick, 20, have not been filed. Police are requesting charges of hit-and-run causing death and operating while intoxicated – third offense.
An initial appearance is scheduled for Monday, according to a probable cause statement.
The crash happened shortly before midnight Saturday on County W, near Brehmer Road.
According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department, a pedestrian was helping another motorist when they were struck by a vehicle.
The driver left the scene but was located a short time later.
