SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A former Shawano resident and registered sex offender was sentenced to an additional 10 years in federal prison after being found in possession of child sexual abuse material.
Officials from Wisconsin’s Division of Criminal Investigation searched the Shawano home of 29-year-old Denis Fontanini in July 2020.
More than 2,000 images and videos constituting child sexual abuse material — including videos which “depicted violent sexual assaults of toddlers” — were discovered on electronic devices seized by investigators.
Online court records show Fontanini was convicted in 2017 of two counts of child enticement for sexual contact and one count of exposing his genitals to a child.
He was initially granted probation in lieu of prison time, but his probation was revoked after the graphic material was located. Fontanini’s 10-year federal prison sentence will run consecutively to his state prison sentence.
Fontanini will serve a lifetime of supervised release and was ordered to pay $75,000 in restitution to the identified victims.
